Vivekanand Public School was founded in 1981 by ER(Wg.Cdr.)Vetran CHARANJIT ’E’ IAF and Late Urmila to bring education to the poor people. Initially in 1981, Vivekanand Public School was housed in rented facility in old DLF Colony Mehrauli road Gurgaon.
After 10 years, it relocated to house no.1 sector -4 Gurgaon. Later in 1995 it shifted to Sector 7 extension (Gurgaon) with all the students and staff in the newly built building on entirely the efforts of the director ER(Wg.Cdr.)Vetran CHARANJIT ’E’ IAF and the principal Late Urmila in collaboration with Vivek Society, Mahendergarh with the new name Vivekanand Academy.
However, the collaboration did not last long and the founders restarted their school Vivekanand Public School from scratch in H.No.1 Sector - 4 Gurgaon in 1998. The stability, success, and increasing demand for the Vivekanand Public School emphasized the need to build a permanent home.
In 1998, the school purchased about 2 acres of land in Garhi Harsaru, expanded to the present area of four acres and moved to its new campus immediately. Later on Vivekanand Academy built were the offshoots of the original movement. Guided by a single mission, to provide education to the poor Vivekanand Public School stills runs at Garhi Harsaru and is marching forward towards its journey day by day.
